Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I bought Jack from a breeder in Utah in 1987 after a long time search for a staff -bull with Gamecock Collectors Item breeding.  He was the perfect dog!
Jack  had cancer for years and years all over his body, but he refused to let it get him!  So did he die of cancer at age 16 or old age?
He was one of the best dogs that I have ever owned... or that owned me, I should say.  Most Staffordshire Bull Terries live to about 11 or 12. He lived for an unprecidented 16 years!  He was always worried about me! I think he had a full time job to do, watching out for me and keeping me safe from harm.  Unlike our  'other' dogs Jack had a special place living inside our home. He never knew that he was a dog!
Virgil was just a good old "dog's dog". He came to us by way of someone dumping him off at the ranch... Although I really did not want more dogs, he more than earned his keep over the years guarding baby goats and foals. He was a huge boy - weighing in at his youthful peak at about 110 pounds.  He is pictured to the right in spring 2003 a couple months before he died.

"Heart"  a black and white bull terrier and dalmation mix - was Virgils very best freind. He was so sad when she died in 2002.  Now he can run and play with her again!   I bet they are still chasing coyotes!
